 An advanced camp for intermediate to advanced young riders

When:

Mon 8/18 to Friday 8/21

10a - 5p each day

Where:

Pickup and drop off happen at: 

Trek Bicycles Upper East Side

1690 2nd Avenue, Manhattan - between 87th and 88th streets down the steps

Who can participate? 

Intermediate to Advanced High School Cyclists 

  • Riders must be 14-18 years old 

  • Riders must have ridden a 20 mile ride at least once in the last year

  • Must have previous experience in a Ride Up Grades program or other established cycling program - or be able to demonstrate bike handling in person or via video before camp,

Why should young people do this? 

  • Gain advanced cycling skills to commute and push yourself to new limits on the bike

  • Unique experience for college applications.

  • Meet friends and teammates for life. 

  • Experience the city in a new and exciting way. 

  • Achieve your potential on two wheels and qualify for the Ride Up Grades sponsor-shift.

  • Have an AMAZINGLY FUN TIME + Ice Cream!

Shifting Effectively on Flats and Hills

Climbing and Descending Safely and Efficiently

Power Training

Fueling the Body on the Bike

Strength and Stretching for Cyclists

 

MECHANICS COVERED:

ABC Quick Checks

Change a flat in under 10 Minutes

Fix a dropped Chain

Repair a broken Chain

Brake Adjustments

Cleaning Your Bike

NUTRITION:

How to fuel your body on and off the bike to prepare for endurance riding or racing. 

DESTINATIONS: Coney Island, Owl's Head, Fort Tilden & Prospect park are on the planned list for this year!

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

Self-determination, teamwork, finding your own self worth, goal setting and the ability to rise to the occasion are critical to our group rides. Rides progress in difficulty and technicality as the team progresses their skills. A positive attitude is a must - we are here to feel good, ride bikes, and have fun!
